Cabin Fever Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Crazy how the smoke from the Canadian wildfires can effect us so much! Almost looks foggy out there! Getting air quality alerts and the sun looks hazy. I took a 6 mile walk today and my throat feels scratchy. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have... corydd7 and NYRturkeycall 2
nywaw Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 I noticed today things looks a bit hazy/smoky at my house and thought it was my eyes. Apparently it is a bit smoky out there!
Nontypical Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Wow. Is that where it’s coming from? I noticed it today on the east end of Long Island. Kind of a bluish haze just hanging around.
Bucksnbows Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 It's getting worse here in northwest NJ. I got my first ever email alert from my county and it was today about the Canadian wildfires. My wife is coughing upstairs and I turned on the A/C just to help even though it's not very hot out. Robhuntandfish Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Schools here cancelled all outdoor sports and activities. It looked like something from another world all day. It was so dark outside lights were being triggered on. "it's pointless for humans to paint scenes of nature when they can go outside and stand in it"- Ron Swanson

Rob-c Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Just think how bad it is up in Canada right by the fires .. BowmanMike 1
Lawdwaz Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Terrible here in WNY today….better now than 1-3:00 It smelled like a campfire was smoldering next door and the haze was awful. Bolt Action 1

I once lived outside Boulder, CO at 7,500’ elevation and we got bad wildfire smoke each year. It’s no fun, but you get used to it like anything else. But I haven’t been around it in years, and my eyes watered all day today. mowin and Rob-c 2 "A sinking fly is closer to Hell" - Anonymous https://www.troutscapes.com https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
Bionic Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Smelly in Maine too, but has been raining constantly since Friday, zero sun to distinguish how much smoke is here. mowin 1
Otto Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 It’s a little better this evening than this afternoon, but I passed on skeet tonight. I texted with two of my Canadian friends today. One in Ottawa said it was really bad, but bearable inside. The other has a fishing camp way up north and the whole town had to evacuate last Friday. They still can’t go back and he can’t even fly his airplane over the lake to check on the camp. They are praying for rain! blackbeltbill and Robhuntandfish 2
DirtTime Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Oh, come on! If it was pot fields burning up there people would be out hanging tree stands and sucking in air like they just ran the 400 in 30 flat. It's been bad here since about 10AM. It stinks, it almost has a feint chemical smell. Rained for about an half hour not too long ago which didn't help much, now it smells like damp musty wood burning. Saying tomorrow is supposed to be worse. I hope they get it under control up there so start slowing the destruction.
Bolt Action Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Same here in Rochester area. Hazy and smokey all day. Kids activities canceled today and tomorrow. The sun is a weird red color..
DDT Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 My nose has been running for 2 days. Get home and put the air on and it goes away.
