One of my wife’s best venison meals:  back-strap hoagies.  I’ve been asking for this for a while, and she knocked it out of the park today.  
 

The meat was from a 3.5 year old doe that I had named “back strap momma” after I seen her robbing our early sweetcorn a few times.  The coyotes must have got her fawn(s) last year, so all that sweetcorn went into her back straps, rather than making milk. 

I killed her during the early September gun season last year, and I can’t recall ever seeing a doe with better developed back straps.  We didn’t get any early sweetcorn, thanks in no small part to her.  It was almost worth it though, because you can almost taste it in her tender straps.

Driveway and decks and roof edges all cleaned up. About 5" of heavy wet snow.  Breakfast earned.

Big fan of Cabot cheese.   As sharp of a cheddar they have, I’ll take.

Sausage 2 ways tonight! Cheese and parsley from Stew Leonard's- boys request. Mrs and I had homemade smoked in a boil. We like the sweet potato as a change from regular white.
